JA Hatta Fort Hotel

Any resident of Dubai that has friends that are into hiking have heard of Hatta. Or actually anyone that lives in Dubai has heard about the ‘quick escape’ that it can be from the busyness of the city. My husband and I decided to book a short staycation for the 2 of us only and get some 24h of adult time before jumping back to full on parenting mode that our soon to be 2 year old demands :)

Lunch

The main restaurant Gazebo. That’s my husband on the corner rethinking his life choices since I decided that I wanted to blog about every trip we made.

After 90 min or so of driving, we arrived around 12pm. Instead of checking in, we went straight to the restaurant. We went for the half board option with our reservation, which honestly was such a great deal (AED100/person, with starter, main and dessert) - and if you have been reading my blog, by now you probably now how much I LOVE a good deal.

My Rose. The air quality that day was terrifically bad for some reason.

The food was really good, I was impressed with the quality of the vegetables (as I usually find that this ‘set menus’ disappoint with the salad option), and even more impressed that they had draft beer (my brit husband was so happy when he saw the Guiness sign at the entrance!). I went with a nice Spanish Rose, would paired really well with my butter chicken as a main.

The rooms

There are 2 things that we care about hotel rooms (a lot more on the details, but mainly): how dark and how quiet they are. And these rooms were BOTH! We had such a great night of sleep (but I have to confess we are creeps that bring our own pillows to trips - when we are not with our baby I must say). The rooms are very cozy, spacious and have connecting doors - which is great whenever traveling as a family. The view of the mountains was also beautiful, although I didn’t take any pictures because of the dust.

The City

Since we went to Hatta a peak summer (Mid August), we didn’t do much until around 5pm, but we decided to go explore the Hatta Dam. Beautiful scenery and I’m sure that our daughter is going to enjoy it whenever we come back when she’s a bit older to go for some kayaking, boat trip, and all these things that you can only do with kids for a very short period of time before they get tired and bored suddenly as kids do.

The breakfast

The best surprise we had was a really good breakfast. For us, a good breakfast is measured by the amount of protein and vegetable options, and this hotel had a lot of both! This was even more exciting after a 5k run that I did at 5am at the gym that I honestly was not looking forward to.

Yes we are the type of guests that stay in the same table all the time :)

Overall it’s really worth going to Hatta, probably during winter - with a good hiking trip planned and stay in JA Hatta for a good recovery. We will come back!
