Tony Robbins.
Last October I flew 16 hours from Dubai to LA to attend a live seminar Unleash the Power Within, facilitated by Tony Robbins. Yes, completely madness - we traveled across the globe with a 12h timezone difference for 4 freaking days. And man, I would do it all over again.
First solo parents trip since baby Aria was born!
I’ve been a fan of Tony Robbins for almost a decade, having first coming across his work in the Netflix documentary ‘I’m not your guru’. His work resonated so much with me. The brutal honesty approach towards the blessings and the unfortunate events of our lives, and the extreme ownership that we need to have in order to live a life at its fullest.
It’s really hard to summarize in one blog post what this experience was to me. We spent 4 days immersed with other 15,000 fellows from all over the globe trying to work on ourselves and live a life more than ordinary. I had high expectations for the event, and they were all surpassed. I’ve lived very intense days, and it was so liberating to have clarity that I can do whatever I set myself to do.
Probably the biggest learning was to just take action. One of the exercises was focused on picturing a life in 10, 20 years from now, if we were just living in our deepest fears, or the so called ‘self limiting beliefs’ - ie. ‘I can’t succeed because I wasn’t born for this type of success. It’s not on my blood’. The growing resentment, the isolation, the constant suffering that this extreme scenario would cause were definitively a wake up call that I can do, be, and live whatever I set myself to do. It’s not only a mater of blah blah BS believe in your dreams etc. It’s pure logic. The ones that succeed are the ones that believe - UNDOUBTEDLY - that they can. Simply because they will not stop until they find the path to succeed. And the optimistic cycle just keeps on repeating itself: they set ambitious goals because they believe they can achieve them, eventually they achieve them, which gives them more confidence that they will achieve new goals, so on and so far.
But nothing happens in a vacuum. You need to take immediate massive action, now. In this very moment, are you working towards the goals that you set yourself to do? Or are you distracted with priorities that are ‘demanded’ from you? A lot of times we hide ourselves behind our obligations to avoid the fear of not achieving what we want. I can’t take that call with that potential client, because I’m not prepared. Or I can’t take on more work right now. Or I can’t handle that negotiation for a salary raise because they may think that I’m greedy and put me in a tough position for a potential promotion. Honestly, I can think of so many excuses I give to myself on a daily basis to not live the awesome life that I know I was set to live.
The living legend
I have established that my goal in this earth is ‘em tudo amar e servir’ (from St. Ignatius of Loyola) translates most naturally into English as ‘to love and to serve in all things’. I guide my daily decisions, professional and personal goals by this main motto. I believe that I have a mission on this earth to live an extra-ordinary life, to push the boundaries, to test limits, to achieve and to share. The missing piece for me to achieve my goals is always the action item. I’ve grown to love solitude, the preciousness of small moments around reflections, journaling, organizing my thoughts, challenging my opinions and finding my passions. But as I said before: great things are not built in a vacuum. Understanding that I do need my moments of reflections (what I usually call ‘hiding in my cave’) and strategizing is crucial, but what is also very important is to just act on these plans. Commit to that coach. Make that investment. Take that call. Send out the proposal. Just do it! It doesn’t need to be perfect, just let the energy of projects getting off the ground become real and create momentum.
I’m forever grateful for having Tony Robbins in our lifetime. If you can, please attend to one of his seminars. I’ve attached the link for his upcoming events in 2026 below. He is a blessed soul with the gift of transforming people’s lives and I’m so proud to be part of this crowd.
Make your move!
